DENISE SASS KAYSER

The natural world is the heart of my inspiration, a constant source of wonder and creativity. Living in the woods of Maryland, I am surrounded by its shifting beauty—the delicate play of light and shadow as a breeze stirs the leaves; the deep, verdant hues of the forest after a spring rain; and the ever-changing palette of the seasons. Whether wandering through the trees near my home, traveling across the U.S. and abroad, or simply pausing to observe the quiet details of a garden or landscape, I find endless stories waiting to be told through my art.

Primarily working in acrylics, I seek to capture these fleeting moments, translating the essence of nature’s movement and energy onto canvas. I also explore pastels, mixed media, lithography, and collage, each medium offering a unique way to express the textures, layers, and emotions found in the landscapes I encounter.

My studies in Fine Arts at Rice University provided a strong foundation in technique and composition, but my true education has come from observing and experiencing the world around me. Through my work, I hope to share the wonder I find in nature—its vibrancy, its serenity, its bold gestures, and its infinite capacity for renewal.
